We’re loving “Sweet Young Thing,” a short by Chris Phelps. It’s a modern take on 50s teddy girls, a greaser style that looks so damn good on babe Morgan Chapman. Shot in downtown Los Angeles, the video and stills are imbued with a babeish badassary that feels like a cornerstone to this classic city of ours.
It’s in there in all of us, a renegade vein of mischief. For some it is close to the surface, others find it deep and buried beneath heart and bone. It invokes a need to strut above the law and get away with all sorts of hell. Finding it is an iconic role really, a right of passage even, like those female 70’s movie leads. Leave the building burning in the background, seek another horizon to make your mark upon. Eat your heart out.
