It’s a beautiful day when Gucci releases a pre-fall campaign filled with folks of color. For a brand that is notoriously known for creating visual stories that err on the side of white, I was thrilled when I awoke to the news that their latest campaign, aptly titled “Soul Scene,” features exclusively black models.
A reminder that it isn’t difficult to treat melanin with love and respect in the fashion industry. In fact, when Gucci made the decision to highlight black models, they created a joyous story that celebrates diversity while contributing to representation within the fashion industry. A beautiful day, indeed.
