The ‘Showgirl’ as a muse in lingerie is nothing new, as retro and burlesque influences are everywhere. But L’Agent, the diffusion label of luxury giant Agent Provocateur, co-designed by Penelope and Monica Cruz, has tapped a different kind of girl for this season’s show. It’s the gritty rock girls and princesses of punk who have inspired L’Agent for Autumn Winter and their styles translates spectacularly well to lingerie looks that are wildly appealing and surprisingly wearable.
It’s no secret that the bodysuit is having a major moment and for me, they’ve always been the strongest pieces by L’Agent. This season is no exception. There are three major options on this style here, all of which would be worthwhile investments.
‘Addie’ is an entirely fishnet bodysuit with underwire cups and would look exceptional beneath ripped bands tees or with thigh-high dominatrix style boots (there is also a bra and brief option, that also comes in white). ‘Reia’ is a timelessly sexy sheer tulle black lace and ‘Siena’ is also exceptional- a metallic blue and gold number with plunging neckline. ‘Idalia’ a previous season top-seller in shades of light blue and ballet pink, returns here in rich purple. It’s romantic, all ribbon bows at the front, while the open-bottomed back is daring, straight-up raunchy even!
L’Agent also always excels with colors. In addition to price points lower than mainline mother label Agent Provocateur, it’s where L’Agent pulls in a fresh and spirited clientele as bright, popping shades add a youthful injection to classic lace bras, briefs and suspenders.
‘Dani’ is a luxe and almost multi-dimensional teal and ‘Giana’ is a fiery red floral. ‘Leola’ in cerise and ‘Vanesa’ in peacock are positively electric, eye-grabbing shades purple and blue. All these colors are divine laces, in the forever sexy (and my personal favorite) cuts of unpadded (but still underwired), bras, briefs, thongs and suspenders. The options are endless for styling and the everyday-to-special to occasion wearability factor is about as high as it gets.
Other star styles in this collection include ‘Selana’, a delicate sheer black eyelash lace interpreted into a variety of loungewear looks such as a robe, slip, camisole and French knicker, and the black ‘Mia’ slip, a mix of black floral lace and fishnet, really sums up what this collection is about. It’s about the fact you can be both sexy as hell and a total bad-ass at the same time, that you can rip it up with the best of ‘em and still be wearing beautiful lingerie. L’Agent shows that being pretty doesn’t necessarily mean being a priss. If you want to show attitude with a delicate bra peeking out beneath a punk shirt or by wearing a sheer bodysuit with nothing but a leather jacket, it’s entirely up to you.
