Los Angeles is a city where, with a little tenacity and a lot of imagination, a dream can be realized so glamorously it almost feels like a fairy tale. Designer Jo Pak, a native Angeleno and first generation Korean American, has one such such story.

MAD IN LA, Pak’s high end ready-to-wear collection, is headquartered + produced in Los Angeles, California. The collection presents a stylish point of view that is both refined and street savvy. While the brand is anchored in providing minimal, clean staples for the contemporary woman, MAD IN LA’s SS17 collection is far from simple. Sophisticated draping techniques can be seen in signature pieces like the silky jersey Crossover Dress.

MAD IN LA’s launch collection “Muted Pastels”, takes inspiration from traditional Korean – double breasted shawl collar blouse – and Chinese – mandarin tunic top – dress, while the refrained colors – dusty pinks, pale blues, sage greys – implement a quintessential Californian vibe. The result? promise of a brand with a fresh, advanced take on classic American ready to wear, providing styles that are both essential and unique.

This may just be a first chapter for the designer and Brand, but if it’s any measure of what’s to come, we can for sure count this among the success stories this city has manifested.
