“My new work in Hidden Persuasion is a tiny bit of a departure for me. In my past work, surreal manifestations inspired by the unconscious mind came to life. The source for this current body of work is inspired by subject matter taken from films and television. I transform these characters turning them into archetypes and visually complex icons,” Glenn Barr said of his upcoming solo exhibition, “Hidden Persuasion,” at Detroit’s Inner State Gallery.
We first fell in love with the painter’s cinematic body of work when he showed alongside Live FAST faves Devin Liston and Gosha Levochkin at Merry Karnowsky gallery in LA. Yesterday, a friend sent his work to me saying how his use of light and color reminded him of how we compose storylines in the magazine. Do you see it? 🙂
Opening artist reception is November 20th from 7 – 10 pm. The event is free and open to the public. Feast!
