Wes Anderson’s films seem to always come out at the perfect time – little presents dropped down into our mundane world. They are other. His creative eye and lurid imagination give us something to dream about, and give us somewhere to go. I love the movies because of the magic; alone in the dark in a room full of strangers you can be transported into another world. But Anderson’s movies, these places you go to, they will stay with you long after the lights have turned back on. And isn’t that the whole point? The fabulousness of the worlds he creates is such a massive part of these movies’ intoxicating effects. They are like everything and nothing you have ever known before, familiar and fantastical. This is precisely why I love this collection postcards, created in that very vein – to write home from the places in which his characters and our imaginations have visited. Created by artist Mark Dingo Francisco, these whimsical and deliciously rendered images are a treat to the world. Don’t they make you want to write a note to someone you love?
