It’s not easy to get into the Christmas spirit when you live in sunny California, so this year we thought we’d head up north for a weekend of bliss at the Madonna Inn, where celebrating the holidays is a truly magical tradition ever since the family opened their eponymous hotel back on December 24, 1958.
We beamed with excitement at the end of our three-hour drive when we saw the infamous hot pink sign. Knowing we were in for an exceptional time, we snapped a photo out front in these killer outfits from Stone Cold Fox before checking in.
Every year without fail, the Gold Rush Steakhouse turns into a true Christmas wonderland; the bright pink interior is braided with aromatic evergreen and bright red bows – we hadn’t seen a room like this in forever. Cambria and I threw on our festive dresses and played in the yuletide bliss…
Feeling exhausted from all the adventure, we hit the Silver Bar for cocktail hour, where the drinks are exquisite and the atmosphere is cozy.
Next stop, one of the most glamorous rooms on the lot; the crystal room, adorned with elegant chandeliers, gold-plated mirrors and soft red carpet. The room features a king and queen size bed – perfect for a four-person slumber party. We immediately pulled out our suitcases and started playing dress up…
Cambria slipped into one of our favorite pieces from Feu de Venus – how epic does she look against the black velvet floral print wallpaper?
Just in time for dinner, we changed into these gorgeous matching gowns from Stone Cold Fox and hit up the Gold Rush Steakhouse. We were greeted with a smile and seated at Mrs. Madonna’s booth (how cool!?!)
After dinner we danced off our wine buzz to fantastic live music, then back to the room for a little after-partying…
Cambria busted out the moonshine and we started dancing to Katy Perry, trying on clothes, and getting a little silly…
While Cambria got comfy in the Outlaw Dress, I slipped into this seductive set from Feu De Venus; the elegant purple threads tied in beautifully with the dazzling room.
Our night in the crystal room was one of the best ever. We felt like we were in a castle, or a glamorous hollywood movie set. The room was spacious, the beds were soft and the energy was creative and playful.
The next morning we woke well rested and ready to take on the day – but first things first; coffee. The Copper Cafe had everything we needed and more… fresh brewed coffee, a hearty breakfast, and a mimosa (or two!). Cambria and I changed into our swimsuits and these adorable Stone Cold Fox robes and made our way to the pool after breakfast to soak up some sun before hitting the road again.
We didn’t want to leave, but Big Sur was calling our names, so we said one last goodbye to the beloved landmark hotel
We’ll be back again soon!
