Babe Talk: Hanna Beth

The exquisite Hanna Beth Merjos channels her inner sex kitten in this glamorous new series of photographs by Danielle DeFoe. Beth is part of that lucky breed of entertainers who got their first big break on MySpace and have made the right business moves ever since. She grew up very fast in the craziness of Hollywood juggling blogging, modeling, hosting and glittering all over town. We had a chance to sit down with her for a quick interview.

LF: Your look is playful, you often mix different patterns and prints. If you had to choose one word to describe your personal style, what would it be?

HB: I would chose “eclectic” I suppose… I never stick to one style… I am a fashion chameleon…

LF: People have called you a “scene queen” and “social media genius” – what do you think of these titles?

HB: I never understood the term scene queen… it just makes me think of me at 18 wearing a tutu with rainbow hair… it’s definitely not a title I would call myself today… ha! Social media genius sounds pretty cool… I never thought of myself like that but it is flattering… I would have never imagined that just by creating a MySpace when I was 16, I would be able to set myself up on a strong but fun career path… so many great opportunities have come from blogging and social networking..

LF: Tell us about your collaborative clothing line, Sober is Sexy.

HB: My mom is the owner of Sober is Sexy… I help her with the brand by doing PR and design consulting. We’ve had the brand for a few years now… we are always putting out new shirts and plan to expand the line in the future… It’s fun working with my mom… We get along really well and have a lot of the same ideas.

LF: Why do you think sober is sexy?

HB: I think sober is sexy because it shows power. You don’t need drugs & alcohol to have a good time… Being sober means being present, and nothing is sexier than that! Ha.

LF: How old were you when you got your first tattoo – and do you still like it?

HB: I was 17… I got the heart on my pinky finger… yep .. went straight for the hands… ha ha… I still love it… all my tattoo’s remind me of different parts of my life

LF: Who are your fave rock & roll icons?

HB: Bowie, Edie Sedgwick & Jagger.

LF: What’s the first thing you do when you wake up in the morning?

HB: Brush my teeth and turn the t.v. off since I usually pass out with it on… ha.

LF: You are known to be somewhat of a hopeless romantic with passionate views about love… how do you define love?

HB: Love conquers all… I find love to be one of the strongest emotions… even in your darkest times you gotta have love… it keeps you humble and compassionate.

LF: Describe your perfect date.

HB: Sushi and a movie… I cherish those dates most of all… I love to keep it simple.

LF: If you could have tea with one person, dead or alive, who would it be?

HB: David Bowie or Cher.

LF: When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

HB: A model.

LF: How fast do you live?

HB: I live in the moment. I am in the now.
