Babe Talk: Jenny Parry

It’s easy to fall in love at first sight with Jenny Parry. The gorgeous L.A.-based model, blogger and actress has a perfect body and a sexy smile, piercing green eyes and a timeless style. And the coolest thing about Jenny is that her life isn’t only picture perfect… She’s beautiful from the inside out, witty, funny, talented and hard-working. She is a loving wife and a caring friend; her upbeat, wild yet balanced lifestyle embodies everything this publication stands for. I had a chance to catch an chat with this rising star, and here’s what she had to say:

LF: What’s the biggest challenge for you as you are transitioning from modeling to acting?
JP: It’s another level – just learning a technique and bringing myself to the character. And getting myself out there of course.

LF: Where do you pull inspiration?
JP: Listening to The Doors and Tom Petty, long late night walks through the hills of Silverlake with my husband and pup, Francesca Lia Block, spontaneous trips, Bret Easton Ellis, the late 60s/early 70s, Jack Kerouac, old country music, small towns, the amazing city of Los Angeles – its history, kitschy landmarks, and the diverse landscape, 70s groupies, oh and I usually pull inspiration after my first glass of wine.

LF: How do you feel when you see yourself on film?
JP: Fucking nervous.

LF: You’ve got this aura of kindness about you. Why are you so nice?
JP: I’m just shy. No, it just feels better to be nice than it does to be mean.

LF: Let’s talk about love. One advice for the single ladies.
JP: You never know who is around the corner. In my case, Jason was a total unexpected surprise.

LF: One piece of art you’d kill to own.
JP: Very random and weird but The Garden of Earthly Delights by Hieronymus Bosch. I was an art history major the first 2 years of college and that piece always sucked me in. It’s sooo strange. Plus, in one of my favorite movies ‘Over the Edge,’ one of the characters trips on acid while learning about it in class. Makes sense.

LF: Three favorite shoe designers?
JP: Christian Louboutin and Alaia, but lets be honest,  I’ll just wait til Jeffrey Campbell creates an imitation.

LF: What’s the best attitude to get along with your man when you’re both on the road?
JP: An open mind. Jason and I usually get along on a road trip. It’s when you add extra people that issues come about. There might be problems that arise, but whatever, it’s an adventure. Be open to what your companion wants to see and do. You might discover something cool.

LF: What’s your favorite photo Jason ever shot of you?

JP: Ooh that’s hard… I love so many of Jason’s photos. But right now it’s one that he took of me when we were recently in Australia shooting the Mimi Chica lookbook.  We were in Byron Bay and I was standing in the water just wearing a pair of floral jeans and a backwards baseball cap while 8 or so surfers pass in front of me. It was freeing and gorgeous, just like out trip. And that’s why I love it.

LF: Does fashion influence art or is it the other way around?
JP: I feel like art influences fashion. Look at 60s pop culture… I definitely feel like the art being created at the time influenced the way people dressed. But I also feel like fashion can be a form of art in it self. Style is a form of self expression… and in some cases, I think it could be considered performance art!

LF: What makes you insecure?
JP: Whenever I don’t feel confident in myself and my capabilities. It happens.

LF: Best look on the opposite sex?
JP: A leather motorcycle jacket, shitty t-shirt, worn-in jeans, Sebago lighthouse boots and confidence. Sexy.

LF: What gets you off – literally or figuratively?
JP: Spontaneity, a great sense of humor and the ability to ride a skateboard well.

LF: Top songs to make love to?
JP: I Wanna Be Your Dog by The Stooges over and overrrrrrr. Oh wait. Maiking love? Seal. Ha.

LF: What’s your stance on jealousy?
JP: Jealousy sucks. Everyone is on their own individual path so if you feel like someone is doing better than you, just count your blessings. You are probably far better off than you realize.

LF: When do you feel most beautiful?
JP: Tan, no make-up, hair un-brushed and wild, wearing a bikini and cut-offs on a tropical vacation. Take me there now!

LF: How fast do you live?
JP: It depends on what day of the week it is.
