“There is grace in just going, in getting out, in getting somewhere new, somewhere old, somewhere you’ve never seen, just somewhere else. You open up when the horizon changes. It’s easier to have a conversation with yourself when the stars are clear, and the noise is nothing but the slow evening wind as it passes by. You sit and watch the Joshua Tree’s shadow grow longer as the afternoon wears on. There are all kinds of ways to get away for the weekend, but isn’t the point to just go? Forgo all the planning, throw some basics in a bag, and just find somewhere simple to lay your head. Figure it out as you go along with it, the desert will tell you the rest.”
Melodi Meadows and Kaiman Kazazian recently took to Joshua Tree’s Lazy Sky Retreat for the debut installment of The Weekenders, our latest travel series created in collaboration with apparel brand Richer Poorer. Taking us throughout Southern California to explore and to test out our favorite Richer Poorer basic essentials amongst great company, this series serves as a healthy dose of inspiration to get up and get out. The girls perfectly capture the laid back, no-plan-plan of Richer Poorer, and the be-yourself-sexy that we always covet here at Live FAST. Holed up in a little trailer with a constantly evolving horizon, the girls checked out of the world for the weekend and into themselves – reading, lounging, and naturally running amok.
Our collaboration with Richer Poorer has felt as natural a fit as their perfectly broken-in tees. Our first Grit Girl Hike under the pink moon was a celebratory start to the relationship. Richer Poorer is down to earth and takes a no-fuss approach to pretty much everything. Starting out with socks, they’ve since branched out into a entire line of live-in basics that feel anything but basic. Their bralettes have redefined our base line level comfort. Their muscle and pocket tee have become every day staples; so perfectly cut you can dress them up chic with slacks and skirts or wear them for five days straight with jean shorts. Needless to say we’ve stocked up, and Richer Poorer has quickly made its way to the top of our packing list, no matter what kind of weekend we’re heading out on.
