Miu Miu Made This Short Film About Skater Girls, And We Love It

That One Day is part of Miu Miu’s ongoing series, Women’s Tales. For this particular piece, the fashion house sought the talent of The Wolfpack director Crystal Moselle. The film she’s created is dreamily executed and expertly delivered, and is so much more than a lady power anthem. Narratively scripted like an indie film we want to watch on repeat, the story is based on real life events.

Introducing fresh faced skater babe, Rachelle Vinberg, the twelve minute film follows her from isolated to initiated in New York on a single day. When Vinberg finds real life NYC skate crew, The Skate Kitchen, the girls show her a time and open the door for who she is going to be next. There is a certain kind of comradery in the last few scenes that reminds us all of what it felt like to realize we weren’t the only one on our strange planet. It closes with the girls decked in Miu Miu in an epic skate montage that looks and feels so damn good we had to watch it a few times.
