JUSTKIDS Brings Contemporary Art to Arkansas

JUSTKIDS, the multidisciplinary creative powerhouse and international artist network behind a variety of modern large-scale art events lent their talent and curatorial eye to Unexpected, an immersive street art festival in downtown Fort Smith, Arkansas for the second year in a row. The artist line-up, curated by JUSTKIDS, includes Alexis Diaz, Okuda San Miguel, Guido Van Helten, Jaz, Pastel, Faith 47, Bordalo II, Cyrcle and returning artists D*Face and Maser.

The second edition of Unexpected continues its mission of bringing quality and thought-provoking urban and contemporary art to Arkansas, through murals, exhibitions, outdoor installations and performances. The main event of the two week long festival brings ten acclaimed international artists to downtown, allowing them free range to use the historic western town as a canvas for their work. The resulting pieces are a thrilling, larger than life reminder of  the beauty of imagination running wild, as well as the immersive power of art juxtaposed against urban environments. Check out our coverage below, and prepare to be inspired.

This week, I’m leaning into love. Love for literature and one of its most brilliant minds. Love for our First Lady who feels like family instead of political royalty. Love for Common, a man whose trademark creative impulse shines on an unofficial remix of “Cranes in the Sky.”
