Else‘s Fall ’16 collection is an exercise in texture and on-trend colors, in the label’s signature relaxed silhouettes.
As demand for lingerie in relaxed shapes continues to rise (see: the ubiquity of the bralette the past few years), Else has produced a collection that is effortless and comfortable, with no compromise in style. In a pallet of in-demand, upcoming fall/winter shades like wine, grey and navy, the brand’s designs are a mash-up of textures, like fishnet and lace, and design elements like chest details and off-shoulder sleeves.
Resembling more of a dress than lingerie, the Petunia slip is a standout, featuring aforementioned off-shoulder sleeves and underwired cups in a scalloped-edge lace. It not only seems like the sort of rare strapless slip that would stay up, but one that could double as outerwear with the right pieces layered beneath. The Signature or Hidden Layer full briefs, also in this collection, would be perfect for this.
The hugely popular trend of décolletage detail features largely. Signature has a harness detail on the lightly padded bra and Yasmin, a racerback, plunge style, has lace that extends from the cups to a collar, with a diamond cut out that exposes cleavage. Both practical and beautiful, Yasmin’s matching suspender brief has detachable garters, carrying on the ‘pretty, but functional’ theme.
Bodysuit and slip options abound, with ranges like Yasmin and Coachella including garments that blur the line between lingerie and loungewear. The horizontal diamond-patterned lace on Ivy makes for a particularly beautiful bodysuit, a timeless black number that would stand the test of time.
The Petunia styles are made from a tactile mix of lace and fishnet, with bra options of the highneck and longline varieties. These, combined with the on-trend wine-red and grey shades, make them the most interesting and fashion-forward of this collection.
Everything featured here has us wanting to indulge our loungerie obsession, in advance of fall. To stock up on pieces that are comfortable, cozy, but still soft and visually appealing. Clearly, we no longer have to compromise function for a fashion edge and Else has made the sort of effortless cool so often aimed for, but rarely achieved in lingerie, their defining aesthetic.
