“I’ll Be Your Superbloom” By Chuck Lang


They say flowers only bloom in Death Valley once every decade or so. The conditions have to be just perfect to coax out the dormant wild seeds hiding in the desert floor. It seems so remarkably unlikely, such things as these growing through layers of rock in a place where rainfall is typically only an idea. And still, as strange as most things are, it happens.

And as it happens it attracts us like a magnet. There is a lure to this strange place, a certain grace in witnessing such an anomaly. It attracts the beauty believers and the endless horizon seekers; people like Chuck Lang, his lovely stylist girlfriend Gillian Rae, and model Katty Ukhanova. These three ventured out to catch the last fleeting days of this years superbloom: a dusting of remembered gold.
