It is no secret that the Viceroy name guarantees a step beyond luxury. Upon checking into the hotel group’s Zihuatanejo property, the evening wind carried a sweet, toasty smell like coconut roasting over a fire.
We followed bridges over pristine pools and into La Marea restaurant, where an upscale beachside meal awaited. We ate dinner twenty feet from the ocean, dozing off with the twinkling lights of Zihua in the distance. We felt high on life and to be perfectly honest, I can’t tell what was most intoxicating: the spicy taste of mezcal, the humid air of the tropics or the angelic voices of these men who came over to offer us a serenade. Paradise is a state of mind, they say…
In the morning, we lazed around our spacious adobe-inspired casitas as our body finally started to adjust to life in the slow lane.
Every room or suite at Viceroy Zihuatanejo is unique in design and features a spacious private terrace or balcony with a fabulous outdoor infinity pool made for relaxing and soaking up the splendid views of the Pacific coastline. The level of comfort and luxurious of this place is unique and unparalleled – it is no surprise that it is a favorite destination for honeymooners from all over the globe.
Active travelers rejoice, the world is at your feet as soon as you step out into the property’s thousand-foot long private beach – every possible activity is available at your fingertip; snorkeling, scuba diving, surfing, kayaking and so forth. We rented jetskis and Magda ventured out to a nearby cove to get some tiritas de pescado from a local shop. Equipped with nothing but an underwater GoPro and her film camera in a Ziploc bag, below are some of the images she captured along the way.
One of our favorite features of this hotel is a fantastic infinity pool where we had breakfast & a tanning session pretty much every morning.
Before heading out to the airport on our last day, a few of us indulged in the hotel spa‘s phenomenal beauty treatments while the others napped, read or took one last dip in the azure waters of Playa La Ropa. Leaving you with silky soft skin, the Mimosa Champagne body treatment, a sugar scrub followed by a cream body wrap and topped off with a champagne mimosa body lotion and oil, is the perfect sendoff.
