“Baby rock me like a hurricane” keeps playing in my head as I wander around the lobby of the Clift Hotel, looking for a friend I’ve misplaced and music bleeds in from somewhere near. I get the feeling like I’ve arrived. I am half alive and high on life, music, and the energy of San Francisco during one of the most maddening weekends of the year in a city that is already teeming with creativity, opportunity, and handsome people. I’m in over my head and I love it. This boutique luxury hotel captures the spirit of SF by infusing an old world grandeur with a chic flare and an exceptional attention to detail. I like the way I feel inside its walls, it’s dreamy and somewhat European, in the way I believe I must have wandered down the rabbit hole. It’s classy, it’s hip and the bartenders are remarkably good looking.
We are swooning over the parties Clift Hotel threw for Outside Lands music festival this past weekend. With an already jammed schedule it’s sometimes hard to pick and choose where to cut loose outside the festival. This was a unanimous yes on our ends. It felt good to get classy and have a nice cocktail, to get out of the sun and feed the finer parts of the self for a bit. With DJ sets from the Cold War Kids, and Robert Delong + Friends, and appearances by The Black Keys, Django Django, and Logan Lerman, we honestly couldn’t have imagined being anywhere else for such a time.
