Paint what you like and die happy ~ Henry Miller
Henry Miller is admired for his deep thinking and brazen sexuality. In the early 1930’s, in a time when you simply would be banned for writing sexual experiences and social criticism, Miller wrote anyways. He remained true to his observations and wrote about them shamelessly.
30 years later, his novels in were deemed a work of literature and bans were lifted. This era of the 1960’s became known as the “sexual revolution.” Society’s interpretations of his work were bound to be twisted, but that did not stop him from expressing himself. That alone is revolutionary.
