Let the Art Basel Miami Beach games begin! Whether you’ve made the voyage for the arts or for the nightlife, there is so much to see in such a short amount of time. We do Basel right by obeying two simple rules; don’t think you can catch everything (invites overload, anyone?,) and make sure you catch up on your sleep before you leave, because you’re in for a ride…
This year, we’ve teamed up with our favorite shoe pusher, Solestruck, and here are some of the events we definitely won’t miss, and the soles you’ll want to rock. Give a girl the right shoes, and she can conquer the (art) world, right?
Le Baron Does Daytime At Mondrian, South Beach
We definitely don’t want to miss the first ever Le Baron Does Daytime (Poolside at Mondrian Hotel, South Beach) Dec 4th through Dec 8th, every afternoon between 2pm-6pm . Le Baron has outdone themselves this year by inviting the likes of Colette, FriendsWithYou, Vanity Projects, and many more.
Art Basel Salon: Tracey Emin in conversation with Sir Norman Rosenthal
MOCA kicks off Art Basel right by featuring one of our favorite neon artists, Tracey Emin. The show titled “Tracey Emins: Angel Without You.” runs until Dec 9th, and Tracy will be speaking at the Miami Beach Convention Centre (Hall C Auditorium) tonight at 6pm! See you there!
The News Stand Pop Up at the Standard, Miami Beach
Everyone knows the Standard Spa is the best in the city, and this year The Newsstand will be hosting daily events there (11am-11pm) until Dec 8th. The program includes guest clerks, book events, vintage zines, guest DJ’s and Art installations.
“Chez André” Karaoke
Andre Saraiva knows how to throw a party: babes, Perrotin, Ullman’s Rock n Roll Karaoke – its vibe is Paris meets London meets NYC meets LA meets Tokyo. Its a debaucherous mess of primitive party people dressed in some of the wildest pieces you’ve seen all year.
Our friends at Overthrow are throwing “Basel Castle” on Dec 7th, at Grand Central Park downtown Miami. Featuring tons of rad musicians, contemporary art, installations and interactive games – mega party vibes you don’t wanna miss.
Wynwood Walls, Downtown Miami
Wynwood Walls : Women on the Walls features the work of some of our favorite female artists around the globe. It’s happening now until Dec 8th at 2520 NW 2ND Avenue.
Hard 2 Leave
We’ll be finishing off Art Basel 2013 with a BANG at “Hard 2 Leave“, the unofficial closing party of the week. Taking place at Miami’s Gentleman’s club VIVID, we’ll need a bad ass pair of shoes to keep up. Leave morality and all inhibitions at the door…
Time to head back home, babies!
Just because Art Basel is over, doesn’t mean you need to stop decking yourself out in the snazziest kicks. Pick a comfy pair of shoes that whisper “I had the greatest time at Art Basel 2013!” for your flight home. You might be feeling a little bummed and groggy as you pack your bags and hop into a taxi, but remember, all of the madness was definitely worth it, and you can always sleep on the plane.
