Life is a race to the sun, and every year without fail you’ll find us in Miami for Art Basel, ready to beat the winter blues and party ’til the break of dawn in the magic city with all the cool kids. It’s too late to book luxury accommodations at this point – most hotels on the strip sell out months before the event – but as you start planning for 2014, you’ll want to check out the images Charis Kirchheimer captured during my bestie’s bachelorette party in the penthouse of the fabulous Delano Beach Club.
Nobody does white-on-white better than Philippe Starck, who spearheaded the property’s multi-million renovations in 1994. Conveniently located on Collins and 17th and featuring the most elegant, quietly theatrical lobby and the trendiest pool on the strip, the Delano is the ultimate South Beach party hotel.
Four of us checked into the penthouse, one of the most stunning, luminous rooms I’ve ever had a chance to stay in. Perfectly suited for a bunch of chic babes on a mission to paint the town red, it has two rooms, a walk-in wet bar, a sitting area, a dining area, billowing white curtains and the most amazing private balcony overlooking the ocean.
Sunbathe naked, drink champagne until noon or whatever you want to do up there; no one can see you and no one can hear you in this private little slice of heaven… It ain’t a real hotel tour without playing a dress-up in some pretty little things, so the bride-to-be and her maid of honor got into a naughty pillow fight while sporting one of our fave lines, Clare Bare eco-lingerie.
After a long night of drinking and dancing, hopping from one hot spot to the next, we watched the sun rise and raced to the ocean for a morning swim. If you can’t call this perfection, I don’t know what is.
