Babes On Tour: Pfeiffer Beach, Big Sur

#babesontour: 5 girls hopped in a car and set off up the California coast to see what they could find…

DAY 3

After a quick visit to the Henry Miller Memorial Library, Tamy insisted on taking us to Pfeiffer Beach, a beautiful, secluded beach that’s pretty much impossible to locate without Wifi. Sycamore Canyon Road is the only paved, ungated road on the west side of Highway 1 between the Big Sur Post Office and Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park. We missed it three times, but on vacation, it’s always a thrill to get lost…

We quickly discovered that Big Sur has many different looks, and your experience in one scenic landmark can change dramatically depending on the mood of the ocean and the shape of the clouds. We got to Pfeiffer Beach on a dark, stormy morning, hours before the sun would break through the fog. I wouldn’t get in the water, but Roxy did.

Tamy went looking for purple sand, which comes from manganese garnet deposits found in the surrounding rocks. Brittney Panda wrapped herself in seaweed and Laura Austin took a bunch of photos. Next time we’re in the area, we’ll go back there to watch the sunset.
