With a degree from both the Arnhem’s Art Academy and Fashion Institute, Antoine Peters has been described as “one of Holland’s most promising designers” by WGSN.com and I-D. The young Dutch designer is notorious for injecting a hint of absurd humor in his pop culture-inspired designs.
“Get Dizzy“ is inspired by the mental and physical disorientation caused by the speeding rotation of the Earth. The collection reflect today’s fast pace life and the great opportunities that can arise from living spontaneously on the edge.
When Peters’ launched his collection during the Salon 2 event at the Amsterdam-based conception design company Droog, he brought his collection to life with a stop-motion video installation with the help from photographer Marc Deurloo. With the intentions of overlapping reality with imagination, Peters’s fused and deformed his prints and silhouettes. To a Krause & Jeroen Joosten soundtrack, Peters’ model spins out of control, stretching the polka-dots on her T-shaped dress and transforming into a five meter long lemon yellow spiral gown. Accessorized with Jelske Peterson shoes, Peters’ designs are twisted, broken up and distorted, stepping out of reality and into his quirky world! Absolutely mesmerizing!
