Art Crush: Greg “Craola” Simkins

I kind of wonder sometimes if Craola (a.k.a. artist Greg Simpkins) used Crayola’s as a kid. I also wonder if he liked drawing little monsters? Somehow it seems that his life as an artist culminated from a youthful imagination – the fantastical creatures in awkward contortions, the throwback to iconic American pop culture cartoons, the use if as his website URL – to name a few. Was he a scared child? Maybe that’s a question for the man himself, but in the meantime, here’s a collection of some of his paintings, drawings and graffiti on the street, followed by a really cool time-lapse video of Craola at work.
