Tokyo-based Digital Artist 非, also known as YDK Monroe manifests haunting imagery in her work. Emotionally damaged looking males, to be exact. Sounds like a fitting subject for any female, especially when you’re a talented artist. However, there’s something more happening here. I feel confused, jolted, and questionable. I ponder: Should I be listening to Adele? Who are these tormented digital boys? The mystery of YDK Monroe ensues — most of her pieces are untitled, which heightens my curiosity level even more. When I try and find this artist behind so much scar tissue, I can’t get a fair glimpse into her personal life since she rarely shares any personal information. If I was a guy, I would chase her until she was mine. Would you?
