Art Crush: Joao Ruas

It’s a little macabre, slightly Alice in Wonderland and fantastically sexy. It’s the work of São Paulo-based illustrator João Ruas, a.k.a. feral kid, who claims… “At an early age he was left alone with crayons and papers for a few hours every day, developing an unusual feral behavior which only got worse through the years.” Well, new he has escaped his cage and taken his comic book-inspired work to the next level. We love his intensely detailed line work and muted colors – a little sad and unnerving, but beautiful at the same time.
