To say SGC N-Y-C‘s new Fall collection is cool is an understatement. New York-based designer Jason Alfano combined his passion for fashion, art and skateboarding in a line of sexy, comfortable party-wear that makes ladies swoon. Just feel the buzz for yourself below and enjoy this edgy campaign shot by our beloved badass Hollywood crew. I’ll be wearing the sheer zip tank in blue, the double leather cuff sweater and the limited edition grey blazer!
LF: You’re SGC N-Y-C but you set your debut video look book in Hollywood. What’s in a name?
SCG: I knew this would come up when we chose to shoot out in L.A. We are not on some Biggie and Pac business haha. I will just say that we make every piece of clothing in New York City and that is extremely important to me. We really just wanted to work with our friends and that is what really matters to me. There is nothing more New York than traveling and exploring opportunities. Both L.A. and NYC have stuff we love and always come back to.
LF: How did that shoot come about?
SCG: I actually reached out to LG really early on in the process. I wanted someone that wasn’t immersed just in fashion. She did music, skate, fashion and she just has a good energy. Hard to explain, def unique.
LF: What is your favorite piece from this collection?
SCG: Our blazers are really amazing. They have hidden leather mens pockets on the inside and a more of a structured feel then most blazers out. Plus we worked on them with our friend Coco Rosa who is just a sweetheart.
LF: Inspiration Board – 5 favorite photographs and why?
SCG: Craziest thing is both the girls in our shoot have guys that are beyond amazing photographers. Pretty much any photo by Andrew Kuykendall. He is just super chill and no one does that desert vibe any better. I chose this one because it was the first time we saw his work and Kelley.
I don’t really follow any models or anything like that, but the last one I did was Raquel Nave. Not sure who took this picture but she is amazing.
We love Jason Lee Parry. I ride motorcycles and I just love his whole Easy Rider vibe.
Really into these couple photos from the 1960s. Keith Richards and Anita Pallenberg, and Serge Gainsbourg and Jane Birkin.
Last photo is by Jimmy De Sana, which draws to our roots. He was a key figure in the East Village Punk Art scene of the 1970s and 1980s. His photography has been described as Anti Art in its approach to capturing images of the human body, in a manner ranging from “savagely explicit to purely symbolic.”
LF: Do you have a muse?
SCG: I really don’t. I actually block out everybody when doing anything creative.
LF: What is your favorite characteristic in a woman?
SCG: I am really more worried about energy, support and heart more than any type of physical characteristics.
LF: If you were given a plane ticket what destination would you choose to go to?
SCG: I really want to go to Tokyo. I have wanted to go since I was in high school. I am def going to have to find a way to make that happen in the next year or two.
