Tokyo’s Cherry Blossom Season

In light of one of Japan’s most devastating natural disasters and the threat of radiation contamination, Tokyo continues to thrive, and in Japanese culture, a favorite past time is “hanami,” a traditional custom of enjoying the beauty of flowers. Young and old gathered to view the spectacular cherry blossoms along the Nakameguro River, eat good food, drink and for many, there was an overwhelming sentiment that the blooming trees represent a new beginning.
