UK-based contemporary design house Darkest Star‘s latest exhibit at Coco De Mer‘s Brompton Cross boutique offers a new, sensual interpretation of the English Pleasure Gardens – a fascinating part of English society from 1661 to 1860 and vibrant symbol of the female sexual liberation. Take a peek:
The first orchid was imported into England in 1818 and created a sudden obsessive phenomenon among the wealthy, referred to as ‘Orchidelirium.’ The glamorous fetish of the Victorians for the precious flower inspired the photograph below. It’s been an important romantic leitmotiv throughout Darkest Star’s oeuvre.
