I met the talented Tanya Corrao in November of last year when I let her and the Matix Girls team take over my apartment to shoot the brand’s Fall lookbook featuring the gorgeous Mariana Saori Renteria. We all got along really well and since then, I’ve been following Dainty Hooligan, her stunning inspiration blog, on the daily. When I started putting together this website, the Fall collections were freshly out and I asked her to pull some of her favorite looks from Fall/Winter 2010. I always find it interesting to get a young, hip designer’s feedback on the haute couture runways. I LOVE her picks!
For a few weeks now I’ve been debating posting this story, now that we’re in mid-October and in a completely new fashion cycle, but I decided to do it because after all, what better time to remember the important trends than when the clothes are actually in store (and soon on sale!!!). Check it!

Q&A
LF: How does haute influence your job designing skate fashion for the urban girl?
TC: Matix has actually come a long way from it’s skater/tomboy ways, especially with the new Lurker Label coming out, which is basically a higher end smaller collection of Matix focusing on the darker side of the fashionable tomboy.
LF: Which are your favorite trends?
TC: Ask me any given day and it will always be different, but right now I’m into shoes, shoes and shoes… Also oversized tops, body con dresses, the colors white and black, and almost anything with a scoop back.
LF: What was your inspiration for the Fall Matix line?
TC: For Matix Fall 2010 I was inspired by vintage, plus as always a mix between masculine and feminine. You’ll see loose ultra soft sweaters, chiffon dresses, military meets vintage inspired jackets and clean military faux leather jackets in a new distressed cream color. A clean tomboy collection in stores now.
